Explore the Highlights of 4th PAAMES & AMEC 2010!
The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers Singapore (SNAMES) is one of seventeen member organisations that form the Pan Asian Association of Maritime Engineering Societies (PAAMES). Established in 2004, PAAMES aims to:
- Promote science and technology in maritime engineering
- Support the development of the maritime industry
- Facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge
- Advance the professional standing of maritime engineers
- Foster cooperation and collaboration among member organisations
PAAMES includes maritime engineering societies from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, and others. These organisations gather every two years at the Advanced Maritime Engineering Conference (AMEC) to share developments and build stronger regional ties.
In 2010, SNAMES proudly hosted AMEC 2010 and the 4th PAAMES Forum from 6–8 December at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Held under the theme “Recent Developments in Maritime Safety and Environmental Protection”, the conference featured more than 80 technical papers covering hydrodynamics, offshore structures, shipboard systems, and environmental protection. Over 200 delegates from 11 countries attended, making it the largest conference ever organised by SNAMES.
The event was coordinated by the Singapore Organising Committee, made up of senior SNAMES members and led by then-President Mr Kenneth Kee.
